Healthy Snacks
Mommy's got the munchies :/
Ok I have a bad habit of constantly stuffing my face with anything and everything in arms reach...thats edible that is. I decided to quit my unhealthy horrible habits and make healthier snacks not only for myself but for my family. Healthy snacks: Fruits [as is/sliced/dehydrated], veggies [carrots with hummus], and best of all CHIPS! I just love the crunchy texture of chips and its salty yumminess! Kale is a form of cabbage, it's very high in beta carotene, vitamin k and c, lutein, and rich in calcium! So KALE chips were the best way to go! It is simple and quick to make/bake. BTW...best to do it the day you get kale. The longer you have it in the fridge the bitter it'll taste.

Here's my simple kale chips recipe:
wash
dry
rip leaves from stem
toss in a little olive oil
garlic powder [or not]
sea salt [do not over do the sea salt]
put on a pan
place in the oven 350 degrees
for10-15 minutes
Collect and eat!
Can't fail with kale!

Making Baby Food
"You got ride of your stash of breastmilk, but you added baby food in the damn freezer! Where is our food going to go?!" -Rad lol
Ok before Dean was even out, I was picturing how he would like baby food. With Max I made baby food and also bought some. This time around I am devoting my every waking minute to feeding my children the best of what we can give them! That means cooking/making baby food for Dean and having home cooked meals for Max and family. We decided to do baby led weaning...but Dean's a chunker and wanted food imediately! I would feed him a few bites and when I'd stop he'd scream for more. He eats a lot I think for a 5 month old. Three times a day about 5-6oz of home made organic babyfood. [He weighs 20 pounds right now too!] In the past two days I have gone crazy in purchasing the right types of fruits and vegetables for Dean's baby food. I've dragged my boys early in the morning to local farmers markets to search for: avocado, mangos, carrots, spinach, peas, yam, sweet potatoes, and green beans.
I've gone nuts and decided to make all those store bought fresh fruits and veggies in two days! I started steaming all the vegetables and once they were all soft I put them in the blender and pureed. It needed some liquid so I finally got to use my frozen stash of breast milk. I placed them in ice cube trays and once they were frozen I placed them in freezer bags labeled and dated. I believe Dean is set for a while! :D

Summer Blog Challenge Day 12
Worst injury I ever had and how it happened.
My worst was when I nearly lost my arm. I was in middle school hanging out with my friends outside my house. The house phone rang so I went inside. After I hung up, I ran so damn quickly with my arms out I somehow punched through the glass part of the storm door. My arm has a big scar and over 40 stitches. It looks like a albino worm lol...I never noticed it until my friend Susan screamed and took upstairs to my dad who was sleeping at the time. I just remember him saying, "Che, don't bleed on the floor!" lol When we went to the doctor I helped him sew my arm up without anesthesia. :D Fun stuff!
