Blue Moon

Once in a blue moon a popular saying that actually doesn't apply to tonight's second full moon appearance of the month. But it does sound like it would lol :D 'Blue Moons' actually happen more often than a presidential election. The first full moon was in August 2nd and the second occurs tonight August 31st. The next Blue Moon we'll see is in July 2015. So take a look out and spot that Blue Moon. Show your kids, tell your future kids you saw a real 'Blue Moon'. Enjoy a peaceful and beautiful night everyone and good night Blue Moon!

My Baby Bump Journal: 13 Weeks

How blessed are we...now we have number three!

[Number 3!]

OFFICIAL BLOG ANNOUNCEMENT.
Yes, we are pregnant AGAIN and with number three. I am 13 weeks and 3 days as of today. We are due March 4th, 2013. To be honest with you, WE DID NOT SEE THIS COMING! But now we've confirmed it and checked off with a clean bill of health...we are excited! For the followers who know that I have Dean just born in January of this year, if you do the math............we conceived number three when Dean was only 4 months! A season old and he's already a big brother. Pretty crazy! Well God must have it in his plans to let us have 3 children so WHOOP THERE IT IS!

How did we find out?
Well we were walking into Target and from the moment the doors opened I made a face and said, "GOD! why does it smell like an auto body store in here like the opened a tire box or all those chemical crap?!" We ended up going to the back and when they opened those big doors...they were opening a new shipment for the automotive area. Rad looked at me and said we have to stop by another aisle! >.< lol we got it confirmed via ultrasound I was 8 weeks by then.

:D So any other mamas or soon to be mamas out there pregnant for the first quarter of 2013? Or any local mamas due around my due date?! :D

Campus Book Rentals & Operation Smile

I remember how costly college textbooks were. It's like paying a months rent! >.< Painful for student and their parents pockets! When the end of the semester came around, trying to sell books back was a nightmare. Even with the internet with social medias, it is still hard. Books are easy to get but hard to get rid of. Majority of the books students end up keeping because they couldn't sell it.

Did you know with Campus Book Rentals you can rent textbooks without the hassle of buy and sell? This great company has been renting textbooks since August 2007 and they've served thousands of customers on more than 5,000 college campuses in the United States. They are proud of their customer service because they work very hard to guarantee the student's books get to them on time. So how does it all work? Worried because you never rented college textbooks before? Don't! Here are some awesome perks: Save 40-90% off of bookstore prices Free shipping both ways You can highlight in the textbooks Flexible renting periods 30-day risk free guarantee Option to buy a book if you want to keep it They buy books Scholarships programs Monthly giveaways Make $5 for referring friends [and they’ll get 5% of their purchase] They also offer a service to buy back books if you have some textbooks lying around you’d like to get some cash for. This is an awesome approach to getting college textbooks. I wish I knew of Campus Book Rentals when I was going to college. I would've rented...Food, Nutrition, & Diet Therapy. Introductory Foods.
Customization of the rental period and choose from semester, quarter or summer. It's clear and easy on how it shows you when your book[s] would be due back. No mistake and you can make it work for you They also have the options of adding a grace period if needed. You can even choose your own return date if none of the options work for you. Absolutely love that!
Campus Book Rentals has also partnered with Operation Smile to donate more than 1,000 cleft lip surgeries this year to children in need. Truly amazing! RECALL: Summer Infant Baby Baths

It’s another BIG recall on baby gear, folks! This one is recalling 2 MILLION baby baths due to fall and head injury hazards. This one is kind of a big deal (it’s in the MILLIONS, people!), so let’s start sharing it with other parents now.
Go ahead hit one or more of the buttons to the left of this post. Tweet it. “Like” it for Facebook. +1 it. Whatever you need to do to share this recall.
Go ahead. We’ll wait.
Okay, now that we have all shared this recall let’s get to the nitty-gritty.
Why is this recall so important? Well, here is what happens with these particular baby bathers…
When the bather is lifted and/or carried with an infant in it, its folding wire frame can suddenly disengage from the side hinge, dropping the baby out of the bather, posing a fall hazard and a risk of serious head injury to infants.
Sure, you shouldn’t be carrying your baby in a baby bather ANYWHERE EVER but clearly people are doing it. Maybe they are moving the baby around the bathroom, I don’t know? It even states on the bathers NOT to carry or lift the bather with an infant EVER, yet we have SEVEN reports of incidents and FIVE head injuries. Seriously, just by looking at this baby bather, I can tell it is a very, very bad idea to carry my tiny little baby around in it. Another example of parent misuse. But I digress.
This is “share worthy” because the fact that the bather can pretty much collapse in your hands, is bad news. Very bad news. Maybe your friend is a carry-my-baby-around-in-a-flimsy-piece-of-gear-over-hard-bathroom-tile kind of person? Who knows?
Here is the entire recall:
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with the Summer Infant, today announced a voluntary recall of about 2 MILLION Mother’s Touch/Deluxe Baby Bathers due to a serious fall hazard and a risk of serious head injury to infant. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.
Name of Product: Mother’s Touch/Deluxe Baby Bathers
Units: About 2 million in the United States and an additional 65,000 in Canada
Manufacturer: Summer Infant Inc., of Woonsocket, R.I.
Hazard: When the bather is lifted and/or carried with an infant in it, its folding wire frame can suddenly disengage from the side hinge, dropping the baby out of the bather, posing a fall hazard and a risk of serious head injury to infants.
Incidents/Injuries: CPSC and Summer Infant have received seven reports of incidents in the U.S., including five reports of infants suffering head injuries from falls from the bathers. Four children between two weeks and two months old received skull fractures, including one that required intensive care for bleeding on the brain. The fifth child received a bump to the head requiring emergency room treatment.
Description: This recall involves Summer Infant baby bathers with a small, nearly square blue or pink plastic base measuring about 13 ½ inches long by 12 ½ inches wide and with the following model numbers listed below. Model numbers are located either on the side of the baby bather near the warning label or on the front near the wash instructions. Some units have multiple model numbers. Model numbers with an additional letter at the end of the model number are also included in this recall.
Baby Bath Recall
The bathers have adjustable side hinges with five rivets each and a white wire frame with a mesh fabric sling seat and two or three positions for the seats. Some also have a head support cushion. The fabric seat comes in various colors including white, blue, green, yellow and orange with fish, turtles, butterflies, frogs, flowers and duck patterns. Bathers manufactured since July 2007 include the warning “Never lift or carry the bather with infant in it.”
Sold at: Mass merchandise stores nationwide and on the Web from September 2004 through November 2011 for between $15 and $30.
Manufactured in: China
Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the bathers and contact Summer Infant for a free repair kit that includes a locking strap and instructions. Note: Even with the new locking strap installed, the baby bather product should never be used to lift and carry an infant.
Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact Summer Infant at (800) 426-8627 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday or visit the firm’s website at www.summerinfant.com/batherrepairkit. Do not return to stores as the retailers will not have the repair kit

Summer Blog Challenge Day 91

Write about the strangest food you've eaten.

Balut! It is a filipino delicacy. Simply an egg with a dead baby duck in it. Yes you eat it all. When I was little I use to eat it all now...it just freaks me out. [2 wk old duck embryo] I do remember it taste wonderfully good but chewing on a semi fuzzy dead baby bird fetus is no longer my cup of tea. There is also the juice in the egg you drink! As for the egg it is hard boiled goodness you would add some salt too. I want some now!

Prenatal Oxylent Review

Review

When I first heard about this product...I actually got excited. A prenatal vitamin where i can pour into water and drink quick and awesome! So when I finally got the product and tried it out myself I was happy and it DID taste great! I was used to taking my prenatal vitamins before I go to bed because I end up getting nauseous. Which I wasn't too happy about. With Prenatal Oxylent I can take it any time day or night and it actually helps reduce nausea! That's a great plus for soon to be mother's out there who get sick easily.

If you don't like taking pills this is a great new way to take your prenatal vitamins! Just pour, stir and drink! It helps support brain and nervous system, bones and muscles, immune system, and it has NO sugar dairy gluten additives preservatives or caffeine! I am so happy to have found a new way of taking prenatal vitamins! Prenatal Oxylent totally helped me out with my third pregnancy because I AM one of those mothers who easily gets sick. Thank you Prenatal Oxylent!

30 Minutes Without Your Kids vs. With Your Kids

Isn't this just lovely? :D lol. How many mamas and papas out there just love taking a 10 minute errand and turning it into a 30 minute or an hour? Having kids is wonderful but "dragging" them along does take a long time. I just can't wait until all my kids are older and able to move on their own with out me saying a word. I have a 3.5 year old, can move by himself, can be helpful...but STILL A 3 YEAR OLD! What 3 year old listens?! I also have a 7.5 month old. They don't do much but the act of unpacking them out of the car seat to a carrier and or a stroller while a 3 year old refuses to leave his seat...ahhh wonderful! Bribery works! "Hey kid you want a toy? GET OUT!" lol Now that I am pregnant again...it doesn't help my situation. I'm tired and cranky. I DO NOT have the energy to do anything let alone go to the damn pharmacy to pick up my prenatal...Ughk! Husband can sit in another 5 minute traffic and get it for me! Today's errand going to the post office. Pretty simple, go in drop and pay for package and pack the kid back in. NOOOOO! Mother Nature decides to be a "BIG MOTHER SOMETHING" lol. It was raining so hard I could hardly see what the hell was in front of me. Made it to the driveway alive, but my next task is to run in the house as fast as I can! CRAP! THE KID! Ah so instead of running in and having a cup of coffee within 5 minutes, I ran out unpacked the kid and came inside all soak and wet. Lovely! :/ At least he's still asleep and dry! So what's your experience with lugging around your beautiful wonderful bright eyed children around on errands? [NOTE: My kids are usually good]

[crappy photo but my shirt and jeans are ALL WET! >.<]
